A framework for combining Languages with the Stage 5 International Studies course, targeting and motivating high-potential Languages students school.Impact
Teachers: Improved workload through the provision of 4-5 courses and guaranteed elective classes. Ability to explore cultural difference, not just exam-focused grammar.Students: An academically rigorous study program, with a broader view of Languages as character development. Industry links to consul-generals and careers in government and trade.
2024-Present
A student event for Year 9-10 students of Japanese, introducing concrete overseas experiences at MQU in Sydney. 75 schools in 2024. Collab with Japan Foundation, Macquarie Uni Japanese Studies, and the Consul-General Japan in Sydney.This event attracts 500~700 students and currently run at Macquarie + Newcastle Universities in NSW, Adelaide University in SA, and Monash University in VIC.Funded by the MJS Centre at Macquarie University,Impact
Teachers: Increased student retention & motivation in Years 11-12 Japanese, reducing the stress of getting elective classes.
Students: Gave them the confidence to consider overseas experiences including working holiday, exchange, the JET Programme as well as Japanese study at university.

Funded in 2024 by the MJS Centre at Macquarie University.A full student & teacher resource for new prescribed texts 'Kimi no Na Wa' and 'Soshite Chichi Ni Naru'.Impact
Teachers: saved hundreds of hours in lesson preparation and self-education through the provision of a student learning guide for the new Japanese Extension texts.Students: Equity across NSW greatly improved through a common resource.
